 As we all know, usually sportscar needs extra aerodynamic parts to keep you on the ground, better grip etc. One of my dear friends, that saw my R5 project, gave me this original Subaru WRX spoiler as a gift, just asking to put it on my Renault. It is lightweight, but can handle up to 250 horsepowers of Subaru Impreza - so it could be too good for my GTE - dont you think so?
Spoilers generally work by disrupting the airflow going over a car. This disruption has the primary purpose of reducing the amount of lift naturally generated by the shape of the car.
The result is increasing the contact between the tire and the road surface, thereby increasing traction. This increase in traction allows a vehicle in motion to brake, turn, and accelerate with more stability. Additionally, this is accompanied by an increase in aerodynamic drag. And because my Renault5 will definitelly be a drag-race car, the bigger spoiler will be, the faster car will be!
But some believes that spoilers have become increasingly popular on all types of consumer vehicles mainly for styling reasons. Because of the widespread use of spoilers in racing, a vestigial spoiler on a passenger car can make it appear "sporty" or "aggressive" to its target audience. These spoilers generally are designed to have zero net effect on performance, because it is more important to preserve fuel economy and designing a working spoiler takes additional engineering resources.
